The girls are at home for the summer holidays so I managed last week some me-time in my craft room to finish some paintings for my sister’s home before the-children-time which will last for 3 hole months …. wooohooooo

I started this painting before even getting pregnant with baby Joe and stopped it…now it is done and I kind of like it even though it is too colorful…

and I painted two flowery ones..I know that my sister loves them… Hope that she will love these

Now I have to tell goodbye to this beloved place … hoping to be back to it very very soon …

How was your week end? Mine was lovely… lot of crochet…ripples, ripples … joyful ripples…

Do you remember the baby boy blanket I started here? Well, I worked on it… Have to finish it before the mummy gives birth in July

I’ve made some progress…look…

I am not used to work with these colours…that’s why it is taking me ages to finish it …

but I am loving it so far….

And I started something with the lovely yarn of Joumana…Remember here?

This alpaca yarn is terrific… so beautiful…so soft…I had to make something for me to wear it on my skin It is selfish I know

So, I started a scarf….it will be a long long ripples-scarf for me … I love these colors…

It is such a beautiful day today and I’m in love… deeply madly crazy in love with my latest finished project… Are you ready to fall too? I’m sure you are

I love love love this simple graphic square…I think it is simple but beautiful… and I love it even more because it is the fruit of my imagination… my own drawing…

and I love the whole result…the table runner in all its glory…all these bright and beautiful colors mixed together in a lovely patchwork…

I feel happy whenever I enter the sitting room

Now for the part you are all waiting for: The how to…

I crocheted this table runner with a thin cotton yarn called “Camilla 6/4″ and a 2mm crochet hook. I made it by joining as I go the squares together in a randomly use of colors…

I drew for you my friend the graphic chart of this square… It is right here:

As you noticed, the joining part was made as-I-go with round 5 (in black in the chart) and it is done where I put the arrows…(Instead of the middle chain a slip joining stitch)

Each square was done in a different color and I made a very simple edging (1sc, 4ch, 1sc) all around the whole table runner…

I am in love with it (did I already told you that?? I don’t think so ) and I think that this graphic square will be beautiful if used to make coasters, cushions or a summer blanket why not?

P.S: I draw all my graphic charts including this one using Corel Draw (a graphic design software) as many of you keep asking me

and one last thing: Some of you asks me if I can explain some of the charts with written words and I am so sorry about that but I just can’t do it sometimes… I am unable to do it It is too difficult for me as I myself cannot follow an english written pattern not yet! but one day…

I’ve been playing with my hook and some cotton yarn in order to make something for my sitting room table… a patchwork table runner…not too big… something simple… a very graphic square I draw and which I am very pleased with right now…

It is very simple and graphic and I kind of like that It remind me of my graphic design years in college

I am doing a lot of these squares right now and I’m gonna join them as-I-go…It will be very colorful but with a simple design… I’ll prepare a graphic pattern for it also…if you’re interested in making one too… this square can be used to make coasters, cushions and even summer blankets …why not

On the other side, I’m spending a lot of my me-time in my craft room with my brushes and painting Oh how I love that!!!!

I’ve spoiled myself with a set of new brushes and I am right now finishing a very old big painting I started before getting pregnant with baby Joe…yes, before and that was long ago

Yes, it is FINALLY done I’m very pleased with the result but I must confess I did not enjoyed the whole making process because it was my first one-color-project I am not used to work with just one color …I get bored easily

The pattern is lovely…It is a free Lion brand’s one and you can find it on ravelry under the name: South bay shawlette… here

If you like the pattern and you are used to work single color projects… I sooo recommend you give it a go

The result is beautiful! don’t you think?

Laying all the squares I’ve already crochet on my kitchen table gave me joy this morning …

48 squares so far… I’ve had to show you…

48 happy squares I soooo enjoyed crocheting I am deeply in love with this blanket and with every step of its making

I’m trying now to sketch a new graphic pattern for a square I’ll use to crochet a table runner for my sitting room… A lot of concentration needed … More about this very soon

Joe is going to daycare for a couple of hours per day, the girls are at school and I am back to life

That’s how I’m feeling…sorry if this sounds rude to some of you but I really really really missed being alone just me with myself for an hour or two… and spending some me-time without thinking: should I be able to finish this round of crochet before he wakes up from his nap?

I think that when you’re away from your children for a couple of hours that makes you a better mom when you’re with them again…and that makes you appreciate every moment spent with them even more…don’t you think?

So,lovelies, I am back to life, back to my craft room (that is on the first floor of my house), back to my sewing machine, back to my paintings too…Oh how I missed spending some time down there…

In the first months after Joe was born I felted an urgent need to go down…just for an hour…but that was impossible…now it is…

Just sitting behind the sewing machine was a real pleasure…

I’ve made nothing important…I’ve sewed some hearts for my sister’s home (she asked me if I could make some for her home back in december )

Opening the closet and smelling the colorful fabric was blissful too

How about looking from the window and appreciating the beauty of our springy blue sky…

and admiring the lovely little flowers that the girls planted at school and brought back home with them…

Oh how I miss these 3 little people of mine when they are away…

Life is a treasure my friend… enjoy every second…

How are you? Is it spring already in your part of the world or not yet? Is it still grey and rainy?

In my country spring is already here: sunshine, blue sky, perfect weather

I started this week a new project: yes, another blanket like you guessed from the title of this post…

It was like a huge need to start it…like I could not resist…and I could not wait finishing other wips before… I had to pick colours and start it…does it happens to you? this huge excitement for starting a project and you could not think of something else rather than holding the hook? ohhh my…

I decided to use all my scraps of yarn…all my leftover little bits and bigger bits of yarn…

and there is a lot of colours in my stash…some are tiny balls that make only one round and some are bigger…

Oh how I love colorful yarn like that!

I must confess something: My favorite colour these days is yellow-mustard a colour I used to hate when younger…now it is my favorite and I am using it a lot in this project…People change

So, I had to start a project that I can easily crochet during hot days…

and making separate squares is not something heavy you have to carry on your lap..

so it had to be squares…squares that I will join later…maybe in autumn… I will not think about the joining method nor the colour now even though yellow-mustard joining is on my mind hahaha

I am really really enjoying crocheting each square and taking a lot of pleasure in choosing 4 colours for each one

This is the kind of projects that makes my heart beats faster boum boum boum

P.S: For the squares I am using this classic pattern but with a small change: I am making 2tr,2ch,2tr in each corner instead of 2tr,1ch,2tr like on the graph

Each square is made with 4 rounds, each round crocheted with a different colour

Today is a special post cause it is a double tadaaa one Yes two finished projects to show you

My granny shawl … finally finished and looking gorgeous

I love it! Too bad it is already very hot now here and I’ll have to wait for september to wear it

Crocheted with my beloved 100% acrylic yarn nako vizon …

Following this very easy pattern … It was a real pleasure to make and I am deeply in love

As for number twooooooooo…It is a before-after kind of project…

A very ugly black wooden stool I totally forgot about it in my attic… and I saw it and thought: what if I make for it a crocheted cover and use it to hold one of my green plants

soooooo there it is:

Granny square cover of course…what else ? made with leftover yarn ….

I love the contrast between the black and the other colours mmmmh

and here it stands now…
