The crochet mood blanket 2014

Yes it is finally done 🙂 in February 2015 🙂

I started this blanket in January 2014 making one square a day and choosing the color of this square depending on my mood … the good and happy days were bright and happy colors… the bad days: greys and dark colors… the “in love” days : reds and purples… the calm, relaxed and peaceful days: cremes, whites and pastel colors 🙂

Back in early september I stopped it … completely… I was not “in the mood” anymore… and I decided to finally finish it in January 2015… so the last squares were not done  depending on my mood… but I really really love the result… It is amazing to see a whole (not so whole) year in a blanket 🙂

This blanket is made of squares… each one is made of 5 rows of 12 dc… joined as I go with a last round around the square of 1sc 3ch 1sc… and I rotated each square before joining it to the others to have this patchwork effect 🙂 You can find the pattern of this blanket HERE.

I used leftovers of my trusted Nako Vizon aran acrylic yarn and a 4.5mm hook…

The final blanket is 270 squares (18 x 15)

For the edging I chose to make a very very simple one: 1sc 3ch 1sc all around the blanket like the last joining round of each square. I think that a very simple design blanket like this one must have a very simple edging …

And I am really pleased with the edging 🙂

The blanket looks lovely in the sitting room and I think that it will stay forever there keeping us snuggly and cosy during the cold days 🙂

Have to leave you now… the weather is very very bad here today and there is a storm coming our way …

Wishing you a warm and happy week!

Crochet Mood Blanket 2014 (2)

Good morning!

How are you? I am still very excited about the Crochet Mood blanket project and I’m very happy that many of you joined me 🙂 Welcome! We will surely have fun 😉

This is the first week of January …

A week full of good and bad moods 🙁

January1: Light purple: Sleepy

January2: Yellow: Full of energy

January3: blue: Feeling blue and dreaming about the blue sea and vacations

January 4 and 5: Red and grey-beige: Angry and very sad about my country

January6: Green: Trying to stay positive and think about spring and green grass (drink plenty of green tea too ;))

January7: Purple: Feeling lonely and alone (the children are back to school) and trying to remain positive 🙂

So that was my weekly moods so far… Please no more bombs and blood so this blanket will become a happy piece  🙂

We, sometimes, make our best to stay happy, calm and feeling good but it is not always possible 🙂

Some of you asked about the pattern of these simple squares. It is a chain of 12. Followed by 5 rows of 12dc each. And a last round all around the square of 1sc-3ch-1sc (and in the 4 corners too). This last round is for joining the squares together (like in the pic above)

Very simple…but I love it 🙂 It reminds me of patchwork quilts and there is something about them I cherish 🙂

I’m still working on my poncho and I’ve made some real progress I will show you next time!

Until then please stay warm and safe, pray for peace, and remember to be thankful for the little things in life!

Crochet mood blanket 2014 (1)

Good morning my friend!

A new start of the year with a new project…

You can nerver guess how much I am excited by this project!!

Let me tell you all about it so maybe you join me…

A  lovely Instagram friend (Mummy_Stacey) is behind this project. She suggested to make 1 square per day or 1 square per week during 2014 depending on your mood…

If you make 1 square per day you’ll have end2014 a blanket with a total of 365 squares.

If you make 1 square per week (and here you can crochet a bigger square) you’ll end up with a blanket of 52 squares.

You choose each day (or week) a color to crochet your square with and this color must reflect the mood you are in…

You can have more details and info on Mummy-Stacey instagram here.

There is a facebook group too for all the members. And a ravelry group.

I decided to join the fun and make a square/day. I chose carefully the design of my square. It is a very simple one. 5 rows of 12 treble each and a last round of 1sc-3ch-1sc around the square to join it to the others as I go…

January 1 : light purple: Feeling very sleepy all day long

Here are my squares joined -as-I-go so far:

January 2: Yellow: The energy is back and I felt in a very happy and full of energy mood 🙂

January3: Turquoise: I was thinking about vacations and was feeling a little blue…

Did you noticed how I joined my squares?

I joined them after a 90deg rotation of each one… I love the idea of having a patchwork of crochet in the end 😉

I prepared a sheet and decided to make a blanket of 360 squares like you can see on this paper:

I will crochet 30 squares each month. When the month is 31 days I’ll have a free day 😉

I’ve already crocheted january 1, 2 and 3…

I’ll keep this sheet in my everyday filofax 🙂

I’ll use yarn from my stash – mostly leftovers 🙂 and pick up the color each evening depending on how was my day …

I hope that this blanket end 2014 will be full of bright and happy colors 😉

So, my friends, did you like this wonderful idea? Would you like to join the fun?

Come on! grap your hook and crochet a square…(It can be any square you want…a granny…african flower…a square you love in particular)

Each square took me 7 minutes with the joining part…7 little minutes per day for crochet all over the year…It is easy to do… and the result will be a cherished blanket with a full year of memories behind each small part of it 😀

So? Are you still thinking? We are already more than 1000 crocheters around the world…

A beautiful worldwide crochet-along 🙂

And we are waiting for you to join 😉

Happy day to all!

A baby girl blanket

Good morning sweeties,

February was a very good productive month for me. I’ve finished two of my wips blankets. My crochet mood blanket (the centered pic in the pic above) and the baby girl V stitch blanket 🙂

Today’s post is all about this last one 🙂 A simple stripy V stitch blanket that turned out very pretty 🙂

I loved working on it. The happy colors made my heart sings with joy and I loved the soothing calming music of the pattern 🙂

You can find the chart of this stitch right here 🙂

I used Nako baby yarn which is a mixture of polyamid and acrylic and it is a very very soft and a pure pleasure yarn to work with. I crocheted it with a 3.5mm hook.

For the edging I’ve used the same Vstitch all around the blanket but I’ve made picots instead of the 2ch … (for the picot: I crochet 4chain and 1sc in the firt chain) I love picots… they really make the sweetest edgings 🙂 This blanket will be for the sweet princess due in April…

And now I started another Baby blanket for a sweet boy due in March… Yes I am late, I know, but I will do it 🙂

Have to leave you now my friend! Wishing you a lovely week 🙂

Love to all!

The edging of my granny stripes blanket

Hello my friend,

How is everything going?  Hope that you are like me in a great mood today 🙂 the sunshiny mood with lots of positive thoughts 🙂

This is for you the pattern of the border of the zigzagy blanket…You can make this simple border for any blanket you are crocheting and it is nice and very easy you’ll see:

First, let’s have a peek to the border itself: It is made with 4 rounds: one blue-green, one purple and two white…

This is it 🙂

Have a good day!

A V stitch scarf

Good morning sweet people

January was a very good month…

And I feel that the days are running so fast… we are february 6 already 🙂

The second finished project for 2015 is a Vstitch scarf…

A very fast crocheted scarf (less than one week and it was done) that I am wearing a lot these days and that I cherish…

And a very long scarf too 🙂 (I can turn it twice around my neck)

I love the V stitch… a very therapeutic stitch that you can work on while watching TV… And a very fast stitch too… It works fast and is a real pleasure to crochet …

I used the Nako Vizon aran yarn and a 4.5mm hook… I love the colors…

and what I loved the most is that I did not have ends to hide… I used the ends to make a fringe 🙂

and I love how it finally turned out 🙂

*You can have the Vstich chart HERE

Will bake a cake today and will enjoy the last day before the weekend 🙂

Wishing you a lovely Friday!

P.S: I will come back very soon with MY CROCHET MOOD BLANKET 2014 TADAAAAA POST. Because it is finished, it is gorgeous and it really deserves a post of its own 😉

The 4 wips I’m taking with me to 2015

Good morning my sweet friend,

How are you today? I think that this will be my last post in 2014 so I thought about sharing with you my actual projects, the ones that I’ll take with me to 2015 😉

1* My Debbie bliss cachmerino aran hexagons blanket

I soooo love this project that I really really don’t want it to finish …

2* My granny squares bedspread… my labour of love…

… adding squares made from scraps…

… joining a row every now and then …

… and watching it ssslllooowwwllllyyyy grow 🙂

3* A new baby blanket for a princess due in April…

I love these colors together. Warm and happy colors. I can’t make a blanket with pastels… I really can’t…

I am still not sure about the pattern. It is a kind of V stitch but with less holes. I’m still trying it out. Once I get it right I’ll share with you the chart 😉

4* and finally my Crochet Mood Blanket 2014. I can’t seem to have the strengh to finish it. I must. It is a beauty. But I don’t know why I am neglecting it and it is thrown in this basket 🙁 I really really should finish it ……….

I finished all my gifts early this year and I am ready to welcome Christmas with a happy heart 🙂

I wish you a blessed festive season, a Merry Merry Christmas filled with love, health and joy!

See you next year 😉

Goooooood morning!

Gooooood morning!

How are you today? A small peek into October

It was a really good month full of crochet 🙂

Now that my shawl is done I am now working on 3 different wips. Actually I have 4 wips but one of them is left behind. It is my Crochet Mood Blanket 2014. I am simply not in the mood to work on it. But I know deep inside that I’ll finish it one day…one day…but not now 😉

I love the fact that I am working on 3 different projects at the same time, picking one I feel like crocheting today and picking another different one tomorrow… that “method” suits me a lot and keeps me entusiastic about all my crochet wips 😀

No due time, no dead line. Just my hook, my yarn and my mood of the moment to choose a project from 3 😉

* An hexagon blanket. Crocheting it with the most beautiful and fantastic yarn. The Debbie Bliss Cashmerino aran … so soft and wonderful… I love every stitch 🙂

And I love how it is turning out 🙂

* My granny bedspread. Just grannies… I love crocheting granny squares… 3 colorful rounds surrounded with black . I will need more than 270 squares so it is a long project for a double bedspread…

A project of patience. A project of LOVE 🙂 Hope to finish it this winter 🙂 Not sure about it…. But NO PRESSURE… Just enjoying the crocheting part 🙂 Enjoying every little square done 🙂

* And this soothing calming relaxing rainbow baby blanket. I love how it calms me when I pick it 🙂

I should always have a ripple between my wips 🙂

And I love how this one is turning out too 🙂

Well, my friend, these are my 3  projects of the moment. I love sharing them with you. I have today a full day of home duties and I simply hate that. So if you’re crocheting today think about me 🙂

Sending you all my love through this post

and Wishing you a happy weekend full of crochet 😉

Stay safe
