A little bit of this…a little bit of that

Good morning sweeties,

I’ve enjoyed reading your comments and your experiences concerning crochet v/s knitting on my previous post… Most of you prefers crochet and I think that will be the case for me too…

Now I’m still learning and enjoying the music of my needles…I discovered the joy of crocheting with bamboo needles and I’ve made some real progress in the “jacquard” thanks to some really good videos on youtube. Thank you for telling me about the videos… that helps a lot a lot :)

So, here is what I’ve been up to in knitting…

I started a “jacquard” cushion :) hehe

Not very neat but I feel that I’m making progress in learning and that’s what counts eh? ;)

I’m really proud of myself :) hehe

Now, I’m waiting for my mummy to teach me how to follow instructions to make a small vest for my baby…

I’ve made some progress too on the baby’s patchwork bedspread …

I really really love it :)

I decided to add 1 row on each side (right and left) so it will drop more nicely from each side… and I still have also 4 rows to add to the top (I don’t know if you’re understanding what I mean :) ) That will be 68 squares left :)

but I’m enjoying crocheting it to the max :D

My due date is around september 15 …so I still have around 3 weeks to go…I give birth by Cesarian so I began feeling a little stressed about the day … even though I can’t wait to see my little baby and hold him in my arms :)

I wish you a beautiful day wherever you are!

Thank you for visiting!

Hugs to all

Sucrette

  1. Wow! You are doing fancy stuff already WTG!

Love the blanket. I am going to make a similar one for my youngests bed next year. Although it will be this textured squares that I made for a baby blanket earlier this year instead of Grannys, but the same effect with the colours.

  2. Lol guess who now has two boys wanting blankets just like yours :)

  3. liza says:

Très jolie comme d’habitude! J’aime beaucoup les couleurs brillantes! Le tricotage est superbe, notamment pour une débutante! Très impressionnante :) . Bonne chance avec le bébé! Il sera si, si mignon et aimé.

  4. Claire says:

Oh my goodness! Your knitting is amazing! I really must try harder – I think we must have picked up the needles at around the same time, but you’re miles and miles ahead of me! The blanket is gorgeous too :) xxx

  5. Joyce says:

The blanket is so, so beautiful. And your knitting makes me want to learn. Keep thinking about the joy of holding your little one and I will pray all goes well with your C-section!

  6. Jacekica says:

You can be really very very proud of yourself – many knitters try jaquard after many years of practice and their first attempts often don’t look like yours. YOur is very neat, only slightly, very slightly too tense behind – so that what you see as mistake – it is not, it will be WONDERFUL cushion.
And blanket is superb, I love crochet blankets, not knitted, I don’t know why, I knitted few, but crocheted is my favorite.

  7. très très jolie ce plaid !!!

  8. Paula says:

Your knitting is coming on a treat Angie, if you can do that you can do anything, I love knitting too but I must say I prefer to crochet, I have been trying to master the art of knitting on 4 needles, believe me the needles have been thrown across the room a few times now haha The patchwork quilt is looking good so bright and cheerful :)

  11. Karen says:

Wow! You should be so proud of yourself! Your knitting is great! And I’m loving the blanket you are making for the babies room, love the colourful squares :-)
    Keep knitting!

Awww I love your knitting! Your blanket is looking fab too. Very Elmer Elephant! My first child was an emergency csection and was horrid. My second was elective csection and it was absolutely brilliant!!! It will all go fine and you will be well cared for. xx

You’re doing great with the knitting – it looks real nice. Your blanket is looking real nice too. :)

  17. Flo H says:

UR doing GREAT with knitting!! WOW!! Keep it up then you’ll have both to do when you get burned out with the other. I do get frustrated with knitting tho.’ Takes to long and dropped stitches and the end stitches are ALWAYS to loose no matter how tight I pull the yarn at the ends. Crochet is my favorite. I do like the texter of the knitted garments but I just can’t seem to MASTER even stitches of KNIT. Hugs, Flo

Hi again, My favorite things to do in Crochet are baby blankets and Dress bed Dolls, Some of my bed dolls were sent to Paris, France by an exchange student and last week I sent a Doll to Calafornia state. Photos of the dolls are on my facebook page and the blankets.

  20. Debi says:

You are amazing!!! Seriously, I cannot believe how for you’ve come with your knitting in such a short time!!! I taught myself the very basics a couple years ago, and have never gone beyond that. Guess I’ll always be a crochet girl at heart.

May the next few weeks bring you much contentment and happiness as you continue to await the arrival of your newest little bundle of love!!!

  21. Becky says:

Wow. For you to be a new knitter you are doing fantastic. I did baby booties for my first project years ago and they were only in one color. Then I did a blankie but in ombre yarn so I would not have to change colors. You are doing great. I also like the addition to your patchwork afghan. It drapes nicely over the bed. Rest and relax. You will soon be very busy with that sweet baby.

  22. Carolyn Geoffrey says:

Angie, your knitting is beautiful! I’m just learning to knit, and I’m no where near as proficient at it as you are.

And the baby’s patchwork bedspread is so bright and cheerful. I love the colors and the way it is working up. Can’t wait to see photos of the finished spread.

I know you will be so thankful when your son is here and you are able to hold him in your arms and look into his sweet little face. Have you and your husband chosen names for him yet?

By the way, hon, I know you try to reply personally to each post, but I also know you are very busy so don’t feel you need to reply to us. We know you appreciate the comments we leave for you :)

    Hi Angie,

WOW! Your knitted jacquard cushion look so good!!! Most beginners wouldn’t try what you can do already. It is actually amazing what you have achieved with knitting so far! Kudos to you, Angie! You have a natural talent inside of you and your vision for beautiful colors all around you and your home is so inspiring to me and to your other blog fans. Your blanket looks so wonderful and it was a good idea to add width and length to drape it over the mattress better. It is so nice that all of these baby projects will be done before your son is born so that he can wear them soon. :-) Have a wonderful day, Angie!
    Kisses & hugs,
    Maggie

  24. Linda says:

    Angie,
Your effort to learn to knit is inspiring. I taught myself to knit while I was bedridden for a couple of months. I love the challenge and the different feel of the knitted fabric. That said, I still love to crochet and like many others have expressed I love the versatility of crochet. I especially love amigurmi.
Best wishes as you continue to prepare for you new little one. My birthday is the 14th so I will be thinking of you as you get ready to hold him for the first time.

  25. laure says:

    gros bisous!

  26. Anna says:

The knitting looks great so far! You are progressing rather quickly.

I am a Knitter (capital K) – a little obsessive about it (I walk and knit). I crochet when I need to – edgings, amigurumi, or other small things, but will occassionally do a full on project. I like the way knitting looks, I like the variations in the stitches and the elasticity of the work. For some reason, corchet stitches all look a bit monotonous to me. Although, I have enjoyed watching your projects bloom!

  27. Felicia says:

I learned to crochet when I was 7, at my mom’s knee. I still LOVE to crochet…

I learned to knit when I was 12, by a neighbor who only spoke German. I prefer to knit, mainly because I love the fabric knitting creates, and often, a knitted project uses less yarn than a crocheted one.

When it comes to making precious stuff for a baby, I ALWAYS crochet a blankie. Nothing says love like a sweet little crocheted blanket.

I love watching your projects turn into bright pieces of love. I wish you safety during this uncertain time, and many blessings for you and your family.

  28. Tammy says:

Angie, I think anything you set your mind to you can do. Knitting made no sense to me at all and you are already working up patterns. Looks great! Best wishes, Tammy

  29. Natas Nest says:

The bedspread looks already gorgeous, wow. And many many congrats to your knitting! It’s amazing that you’re already making jacquard patterns after this short time :-) . All the best for you and your baby!!

  30. kara says:

You are doing great with your knitting. And I LOVE your blanket!

  31. Marta says:

You progress very quickly with the jacquard!! As always, beautiful job.

  32. Sue says:

I taught myself to knit many years ago and I know my limitations. I can’t knit with 4 needles and my jacquard work is always too tight.

I taught myself to crochet in March this year so I am still learning. I have only made blankets so far. I was inspired by you, Attic24, Little Tin Bird and Bunny Mummy.

I love the crochet blanket. At the speed you work this blanket will be finished before your son arrives :-) I must try making a similar blanket one day.

I can understand your feelings about the caesarian waiting for you in September. I am sure that it will all go well and that you will be well looked after. It will be worth it when you see your son for the first time.

  33. Tabby says:

Oh Angie! My heart did little flips when I read “3 weeks.” I’m too excited for you! I remember thinking of all the things I had to so before my Alyssa was due, mostly crafty things. Then the doctor wanted to induce me a week early and that just made me go crazy nervous because there was still so much to do! But it all gets done, even if it’s after the babes arrive. I’m loving your knitting! I’m so jealous because it’s so pretty and you’re doing great! Maybe I need to try harder… Nah! I’ll just stick with crochet. I love your bed afghan, it’s so pretty!
    Hugs and love!

  34. love the bedspread the colours are great

  35. Alessandra says:

being a beginner, you are really good in knitting!!!

  36. Hi Angie, you are doing so well… I’m amazed how quickly you have picked up knitting. I’m a fan of wood needles also… Particularly I cannot knit with metal ( it slides too much). There is also a very, very helpful website called http://www.Knittinghelp.com it’s wonderful and it has lots of great videos …
It’s so exciting that your baby is almost here… I continue to pray for you and your family :)

  37. Dilou91 says:

Superbe couverture!!! De très belles couleurs. Bonne soirée. Dilou

  38. Carys says:

Well done with your knitting – your jacquard cushion cover is so neat and pretty! You have picked up the skill so quickly – I’m jealous…I’ve been knitting for years and I still can’t do colourwork.

Also, I love your blanket! The colours are so cute and will be perfect for your little boy! You have inspired me to make a granny square blanket of my own; I’m trying to catch up with you!

Keep up the hard work, and it will all be worth it in the end! ♥

  39. majupodi says:

ahh oui j’aime beaucoup le jacquard, il est trés à la mode cet hivers.
    le baby serra “in” ;)
    bravo

  40. My God! Is that a work of somebody who is just learning!? I have to show you my one, is dreadful! Your is a master piece already!

    You are such an inspiration!!!

  42. Hi! Gorgeous! How did you manage to join all the different colors without making the joining show? I help make crochet blankets for charity and I’m just learning how to join them. Thanks a Million!!!

  43. Sharon says:

Hi Virginia, I am assuming since there has been no reply that someone is busy with her new bub, how wondeful. There are many ways of joining but it looks to me that the squares may have been joined by sewing only the back stitches together. Whwn you crochwt a stitch there are 2 loops you put you hook through – so when you sew you only put your needle through 1 of these – or you could crochet rather than sew through the back loops. How wondeful you are to make blankets for charity :)

  44. Nancy says:

    Angie,

Good luck with your C-section, which I see is in a couple of days. I’ll keep you in my prayers.

From what I gather from the other posts is that you are a beginner. I think you should consider yourself a ‘graduate’. My dear your work is lovely….your colour choices are well-balanced but fun. And well, I think I have fallen in love with your work in general….it is such a delight! I didn’t have children of my own, so I have been making things for neice, nephews, great-neices and nephews for years, and perhaps for a few more years yet.
As a child, I learned to knit and tat but didn’t stay with either one. During my first year working, I learned how to crochet. I haven’t stopped….not even during the 7 years of bear making….I kept coming back to crochet. So, I have been crocheting now for 40+ years and counting. There is still so much to learn, and I’m loving it!
Again, good luck with your wee bairn.
